Janice Parakilas
Janice Parakilas was a modern dancer early in her life, but found a home in belly dancing in 2002. She studied with Nancy Brown in Garberville, Shoshanna in Arcata and other teachers from various cultures at the Middle Eastern Dance camp in Mendocino. She has traveled to Morocco, Turkey and Rajastan, India for insights into belly dance. She has also done Irish Kitchen Dancing, tap dance and West African dance. As an older dancer, she finds belly dancing to be both invigorating and relaxing because it speaks to the natural rhythms of the body.
Kathy Wolman
Katherine Wolman, ARAD, is the owner of SoHum Dancing and a Registered Teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance, an internationally recognized dance organization. She has been teaching ballet in the Southern Humboldt community for over 30 years, and has also been a longstanding member of The Feet First Dancers.
